Travel, just a little differently
Travel Further is my way of sharing the kind of travel that I have always been drawn to. Thoughtfully planned journeys for curious people who want to experience a place properly, not just pass through it.
I’m Kathryn Mentor, and I created Travel Further because I’ve always believed the most memorable trips are rarely the ones where you see the most. They’re the ones where you have time to settle in, talk to people, notice things, and let a place get under your skin.
Most trips move too quickly. They show you a lot, but don’t always leave space for the parts that matter most. Travel Further takes a different approach. We stay a little longer. We slow things down. And we leave room for the conversations, encounters and unexpected moments that are the things that often stay with you.
How this started
I’ve always been drawn to places that take a bit more effort.
Over the years I’ve travelled from Beijing to Tallinn by train in the middle of winter, crossing Mongolia and the Siberian steppe at minus 36 degrees. I’ve driven a rickshaw 3,000 kilometres across India, from Kerala to Rajasthan. I’ve spent time with cowboys in Kazakhstan and gauchos in the Andes.
What has stayed with me isn’t just the places. It’s the people, the conversations and the moments you couldn’t have planned.
That kind of travel can be harder to organise, but it is almost always more rewarding.
There is also a real freedom that comes with this stage of life.
You know yourself better. You’re bolder. You’re happy to step outside the usual.
I have realised there are plenty of others who feel the same. Curious, capable and ready to do something different, but wanting to do it in a way that feels well supported.
Travelling with me
I have spent a lot of time working out what is actually worth doing, and what is not.
Where it is worth staying longer. What to skip. Who to trust locally.
I have travelled independently through places like Central Asia, India and South America, learning through experience what really makes a trip work.
Each journey is planned in detail before you arrive, so accommodation, transport and key experiences are already taken care of. The trip feels easy once you are there.
I will be with the group throughout the journey, keeping things running well and helping where needed.
There is structure to the trip, but it never feels rigid. If you want suggestions, they are there. If you want space, you will have it.
The places may feel unfamiliar, but they are well chosen and well tested. It is a relaxed, sociable way to travel, with everything taken care of while still feeling like your own experience.
Who this suits
Travel Further suits people who are naturally curious and do not want to rush through a place just to say they have seen it.
People who enjoy being part of a small group, in a way that feels relaxed and easy.
And people who want to go somewhere a little different, without it feeling like hard work.
Thinking about doing something a little different?
If you’d like to talk through a journey, ask a question, or just get a feel for whether
it’s right for you, I’d be happy to hear from you.
